Sai King's Court -
For Readers & Watchers of Stephen King
You are humbly invited to join SAI KING'S COURT, a virtual group that will meeet each month to discuss one of King's published writings AND its adaptation, whether movie, TV episode, or miniseries. While everyone will be encouraged to read the chosen work on their own, a virtual viewing party will be scheduled each month for folx who want to watch the film in community. This isn't about which is better or which we prefer, but rather an the exploration of how the incredibly different mediums of film and literature tackle the challenge inherent in storytelling. What are their benefits and limitations? Is there ever value in comparing books and movies to each other? How do we best appreciate each medium for what it is?
Our first selection will be King's first published novel, Carrie, partnered with watching its original movie adaptation starring Sissy Spacek (you can choose to watch as many of the myriad adaptations as you wish.) This promises to be an exhilarating adventure! Those who reach out before October 4, 2025, will receive a Doodle poll to help finalize the time and which Wednesday or Thursday of the month the group will meet. For additional information including costs of this group, please reach out to TwannaLaTriceHill@icloud.com or click the tab Contact Twanna LaTrice at the top of the page. Please include the phrase Stephen King Group in the subject line of any correspondence.
